Rockmart put up their first win of the season after an opening season skid, notching an extra innings 1-0 win over rival Cedartown to cap off the week.
The Jackets earlier in the week on the Bulldogs’ home turf lost in a 5-4 close finish on Thursday, but had Trey Luke on the mound on Friday who threw a no hitter against Cedartown.
Rockmart and Cedartown’s pitching staffs both kept up the heat throughout the game, keeping the game tied 0-0, but the Jackets finally broke through with a 1-run victory.
The win comes as the Jackets head into the coming week with a long road trip in their next game on the schedule against Northside Columbus on Feb. 26.
Then the Jackets are headed to Gulf Shores, Alabama for the two-day PBR Classic Tournament. Three games are on the schedule with an opener on Feb. 27, and two on Feb. 28. Opponent info wasn’t available as of press time.
March brings a trip to East Paulding on the 3rd, Mt. Paran Christian on the 4th, and a faceoff with Newnan at home on Saturday, March 6.
Region starts on March 10 on the road in Dalton at Coahulla Creek.
