The Bremen Blue Devils are still in the mix as the season remains alive, but they have a tough road ahead to keep playing in November as next week they’ll have a short trip north for a rematch of a region foe.

Pepperell ended up in second place in the region and the higher seed, so they’ll be hosting Bremen on November 14 in Lindale for the opening round of the Class A Division I playoffs with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

The Blue Devils have a tough road ahead as the Dragons have been on a roll this year overall.

Though Pepperell didn’t look like they would burn the competition after starting the season 1-3 overall (including a loss to a Cedartown squad that finished 2-8 on the road) the Dragons bounced back for region play, winning out up until the final game of the regular season when they ran into a 47-28 road loss to top seeded Heard County.

The Dragons finished the season 6-4 overall and 5-1 in region play for 2025, and now have the opportunity to go further in the postseason.

But Bremen could be the spoiler for this one. The Dragons only beat Bremen on their home turf by two scores in a 21-10 finish, and are coming off the regular season loss with just a week off. Bremen is too, but the difference maker is a Blue Devils squad who beat up on the Darlington Tigers in a 38-14 victory on the road to break a three-game skids against Pepperell, Heard County and Haralson County.

Bremen needs to be perfect in this one to pull off the win and avoid their fate from last year, where they finished 6-5 and fell to Commerce in the first round.

If the Blue Devils make it past Pepperell, they’ll have to face the winner of Gordon Central and Jasper County. Gordon Central is coming into this contest having rebounded after years of futility on the gridiron, but snuck in as the 26th seed.

Bremen ended up in the 23rd spot for the season against a 10th seeded Pepperell to open the playoffs.
