What a difference a season can make.

The Cedartown Bulldogs opened their season with a big win, washing out the bad taste in their mouths of a 2-win season in 2025 as the squad looks to get back into their winning ways.

Ridgeland came to Polk County on Friday night and left after the Bulldogs put up a 51-7 victory, relying mainly on a ground attack with Jakobe Dorsey and Zeke Brown leading the way.

Brown put up nine carries and 121 yards, scoring a touchdown while Dorsey had a seven carry, 48 yard and two score performance against the Panthers. 10 different running backs were utilized in the win in the 274 total rushing yards put up on the night.

Senior quarterback Wyatt Mosley finished the night going 4-8, 112 yards and 3 touchdowns with the attack in the air, with Rohan Kent nabbing two of those touchdowns out of the air for 52 yards.

The 1-0 Bulldogs are on the road this coming Friday night to face rival Rockmart and will be looking for revenge.

Last year’s home loss saw the Jackets get their biggest victory over Cedartown in the decades-long rivalry. Rockmart dropped their opener to Dalton on the road in a 35-21 loss to the Catamounts.
