52-0. Cedartown was on the ugly end of Cartersville’s latest shutout victory, giving up four touchdowns in the first quarter and another three in the second before a field goal and running clock sent the Dawgs back to the house to lick their wounds.
Canes QB Nate Russell threw for five touchdowns on the night, completing all eight of his passes for 227 yards and finishing with a QB Rate of 177.1.
Sophomore Harris Turner got the chance to play a few downs as well, going 1 for 3 for 9 yards in the latter half of the game.
The Canes got 200 yards on the ground in offense as well, and Tyon Coe scored the single rushing touchdown off of just the single 17-yard carry.
Brady Marchese grabbed 3 passes for 70 yards – scoring on all three of his receptions – and Maddox Davis did that as well – 2 passes for 88 yards and both of them scoring plays.
Cedartown did not have any postgame stats available as of this posting.
The Dawgs sit at the bottom of the rankings at an 0-5 region records with Woodland-Cartersville, who they face to finish the season this coming Friday.
Though the outcome isn’t firmed up yet, the score at the end of the Oct. 24 trip to face the Wildcats won’t change things for the Bulldogs. They’ll finish the year for the first time with a losing record since 2015, and the first time since the 2006 season they’ll have lost every region game.
It’s also the first time since 2016 they’ve missed the playoffs.
