North Paulding take first title in Class 6A tournament
The best team finally got their first golden trophy and reached the top of the mountain in Georgia.
North Paulding’s Lady Wolfpack took down the Grayson Lady Rams in a six point victory 64-58, rounding out the basketball season as the top-ranked team in the state and knocking off a squad that was looking for a three-peat.
The Lady Wolfpack’s victory also came with a bit of revenge as the game was a rematch between the two teams from the 2024 state final.
But it wasn’t easy.
Grayson took an early 19-11 lead in the first quarter, and held onto it as the Lady Wolfpack came back from a halftime deficit of 28-25 to come out on for a third quarter run.
North Paulding’s squad put up 27 points in the third, and added 12 more in the fourth for the lead and the victory after keeping ahead of a Grayson comeback attempt in the final quarter.
The victory finished the Lady Wolfpack’s season with a 30-2 run.
Morgan Landrum was named the MVP for the championship game, putting up a 17-point, 10 rebound game.
Not only was Saturday’s title win the first championship for the Lady Wolfpack basketball program, it was also the first title for the 6A school.
