Wider area of teams for this year’s regular season coverage
Today Sports Wire is excited to announce its first full season of expanded coverage for fall sports, bringing a whole new opportunity for fans to enjoy Game of the Week Monthly+ coverage here on the newly-consolidated sports site.
With nine High School teams providing an opportunity to showcase their talents on the gridiron this year, the list of games to cover and cull down from August to the end of October before the playoffs was tough. But every squad is getting a chance to be seen as a Game of the Week feature at least once through the regular season.
So fans in the stand: make plans to put on your best gear and show Today Sports Wire how much you love your squad and how loud you can root them onto victory this season.
Here’s what the calendar is looking like for the 2025 season:
Week 1 – Rockmart at Cedartown
Kicking off coverage this year is an annual tradition: the Battle of Polk County rivalry. This year, Cedartown is playing host at The Doc on Friday night, August 15 at 7:30 p.m. It provide additional drama this year for Bulldog fans as new head coach Tommy Atha plays in his first game in Red and Black in his career. The former longtime Darlington Tigers head coach was hired earlier in the year to take over from Coach Jamie Abrams.
Atha and the Dawgs have big shoes to fill, with a number of graduating seniors leaving holes in the offense and defense and a five-year run that has included three region titles and a state title berth.
Rockmart has every opportunity this year under veteran head coach Biff Parson to grab a Week 1 win and set the tone for rolling into a matchup with Cartersville in Week 2. The Jackets have been on the losing side of this one three years in a row.
Cedartown holds at 54-25-2 winning record in this big game, of note.
Week 2 – North Paulding at East Paulding
Two relatively new schools with programs in the upper classifications, East and North Paulding are both new schools to Today Sports Wire. The Raiders are looking to improve on a positive end to the 2024 season, while the Wolfpack are looking to make a splash on the stage on a state level.
This also is the opening week for the Raiders, while North Paulding took on Parkview to open their year on home turf in Week 1.
Tune into this one, because these two county rivals may still be developing and it could go down to the wire in this local fight.
Week 3 – Bremen at Bowdon
Expect this game to get heated as these two Single A squads battle it out over who is the best in a battle of borders between a set of Devils on each side.
The Bremen Blue Devils will take on the Bowdon Red Devils in the second week in a showdown between longtime rivals that still stands mainly in Bowdon’s favor over the past decade.
Coming off a three-peat State Title run, the Red Devils are a huge favorite this year in the 2025 matchup with Bremen.
Make sure to tune into a game that can be an instant classic at anytime for the Haralson or Carroll County faithful.
Week 4 – South Paulding at North Paulding
The Spartans and the Wolfpack will tangle in the Week 4 Game of the Week matchup and will return Today Sports Wire cameras in Paulding County for a second week in a row. The Spartans and Wolfpack both are coming off weaker seasons as the barely two-decade old programs look to find their footing in a crowded high school football space in between Northwest Georgia and Metro Atlanta.
The Wolfpack have had three winning seasons above .500 in a row – but barely – and have made it as high as the second round of the playoffs in since the school opened and football program started in 2008. The Spartans missed the playoffs in 2024, finished 3-7, and have a tough region schedule with Rome having lead the way for years, can’t seem to find their footing.
Expect a fun weekly video out of this one.
Week 5 – Rabun County at Bremen
Today Sports Wire will be back with the Blue Devils, this time at home in Bremen as they are set to host the sixth meeting between the two teams in recent years.

Bremen was on the receiving end of a road loss in 2024 in this contest, and Rabun County came off a long run of region titles before the past two years have seen their fortunes wane somewhat, finishing 9-4 in 2023 and 6-5 in 2024.
Rabun barely held onto for the 24-21 win last year at home, and this year the Blue Devils seem poised to return the favor and could grab a needed September victory before region play begins for Bremen.
Tune in following the September 12 contest for highlights from this Game of the Week that will likely become one for Blue Devils fans to clip and watch for years to come.
Week 6 – Coahulla Creek at Rockmart
It doesn’t seem to matter which region or qualification that the Rockmart Yellow Jackets have played in over much of the past decade. They’ve been a dominant force on the field, and no one in 7-AA this year seems able to stop them again as they enter their latest Region contest hosting Coahulla Creek for Week 6 of Today Sports Wire game of the week coverage.
This one could get ridiculous in touchdown clips after the Jackets put on a 35-7 clinic against the Colts in 2024, and look to repeat that again in 2025.
Rockmart fans, make sure to save the date because it’ll be the end of the season before we see you again.
Week 7 – Heard County at Haralson County and Temple at Bremen
Since they are so close together, this week is just about the only one that provides an opportunity to watch both teams play for a bit on a Friday night in September.
Week 7 will be a double feature of sorts, with some clips from the Heard County at Haralson County game’s first half, and then some clips from the Temple at Bremen second half to round out coverage on September 26.
Heard County is back in the headlines after a 9-3 season, a region title win and a second round playoff berth in 2024 after some middling seasons in the aftermath of a dramatic 2018 state title win over Rockmart (who beat them earlier that season.)
The Braves are facing a Haralson squad who need to get their squad back on track. The Rebels had a 10-2 winning season in 2021, taking a region title in the process and then have fallen on their own hard times with three losing seasons in a row.
Haralson will have already opened region play hosting this one, but it’ll be Heard’s region opener on the season.
Not far away, Bremen is hosting Temple in a region game as well. The Blue Devils take on the Tigers squad who overall haven’t really posed a threat to Bremen over a 19-3 record between the two teams, but last year picked up a notable 34-18 win at home in a a 6-A I game.
Depending where all four of these squads are sitting by Week 7 of Game of the Week coverage, this could be an interesting episode. Stay tuned, sports fans.
Week 8 – Hiram at Cedartown
The Hornets and the Bulldogs will likely be battling for second place in the region this year as the two squads still have to battle it out with Cartersville on the gridiron in the region, and the Canes don’t seem to be in a spot to be toppled anytime soon.
So Cedartown will have to host Hiram in Week 8 and this will likely decide how the playoffs are going to work out for the 2025 season, with the Dawgs looking for a second seed home advantage over a third or fourth seed spot on the road in Class AAAA (a difficult place to be in fighting against 6-AAAA foes around Atlanta.)
Tune in following the weekend after the October 3 game for highlights of this one. It is bound to be a junkyard fight at The Doc.
Week 9 – Kennesaw Mountain at South Paulding
We’re back in the Douglasville suburbs of Paulding County as Kennesaw Mountain and South Paulding battle it out for a win.
The Mustangs have struggled over the past seasons with losses aplenty on their record, while South Paulding (still a young program overall) looks to build upon the few wins they’ve been able to pick up in a tough region and area.
Spartans will host a region matchup likely to provide some fun plays for highlights. Tune in the weekend of October 10 for more.

Week 10 – Campbell at Paulding County
The Pats are back on the schedule for Week 10 of the season in a region matchup with Campbell hopes to break through somewhere on the season.
Paulding County hosts the Smyrna-based Spartans for a region matchup in this late season Game of the Week matchup. The Patriots have high hopes they’ll be able to get a win back on the Spartans this season after traveling there for region play during the 2024 season and taking a loss on the road to an eventual 2-8 finish to the 2024 season.
Look for highlights on the weekend after the October 17 game for the TSW Game of the Week.
Week 11 – Bremen at Haralson County
Talk about a county rivalry that goes back generations. Bremen at Haralson County always meant a lot to those who have played in the game and watched the two cross-county squads face off in the stands.
It just means a little more when the stakes also include a region victory.
The Rebels host this year’s game against the Blue Devils. Look forward to a lot of hard-hitting highlights during the Week 11 Game of the Week highlights available on the weekend of October 24 for Monthly+ subscribers.
Week 12 – North Murray at Rockmart
If anyone is left standing in 7-AA by the time this game comes around, it’ll be North Murray and Rockmart. The almost decade-long domination of the Jackets in Northwest Georgia’s AA and AAA football scene will likely continue as Rockmart reloads for the final game of the year, facing a longtime thorn in their sides: the North Murray Mountaineers.
Longtime fans of the Gold and Black on both sides of the fight this year can expect that this one will come down for the Mountaineers to where they’ll place in the playoffs, as it would be hard to believe Rockmart will falter and lose a region title (*at least without having seen anyone play yet.)
The TSW Game of the Week will finish off on home turf in Polk County this regular season with a release sometime following the game being played on Friday, October 31.
